What does mechanical design include?
- Enclosures for 3D printing, CNC machining, sheet metal or injection molding.
- Mechanisms: latches, hinges and actuated parts, such as the timed-release latch of our equestrian dispenser.
- Thermal considerations, sealing and ingress-protection requirements.
- DFM and DFA review of plastic and metal parts; tolerancing and fits.
- Deliverables: 3D CAD (STEP) and manufacturing drawings.
Which process should my enclosure use?
Prototypes and low volumes usually start in 3D printing; CNC and sheet metal suit mid-complexity parts; injection molding pays off once volume justifies tooling. We choose the process with you, based on volume and budget. See additive manufacturing and manufacturing support.
