How much does it cost to develop an electronic product with Opotek?
We don’t publish fixed prices: cost depends on three factors, namely technical complexity, certification requirements, and how close to production you need to be.
To give you an idea, here is one reference project: a heater controller with integrated BLDC motor driver. Scope included hardware design, firmware, safety testing, and 3 functional prototypes. Investment: ~€5,000. Every project is different, so please don’t extrapolate this figure to yours.
That covers the engineering hours plus fewer redesigns, a faster path to certification, and files ready for manufacturing.
Start with a free 30-min technical scoping call. You get a fixed quote with defined deliverables and timeline.
Do you sign an NDA? Who owns the IP?
Yes, an NDA is available by default. You decide who owns the intellectual property: if you want it, all design files and source code are transferred to you.
Can you take an existing prototype (Arduino, dev kit) to production?
Yes. We turn dev-kit proofs of concept into custom boards with structured firmware and a manufacturable design, then prepare production files and test procedures.
Do you handle CE or EMC certification?
Yes. We design with EMC in mind, prepare the technical file and the Declaration of Conformity for your signature as the manufacturer, and coordinate any tests needed with accredited laboratories.
Do you do only firmware or only PCB, or the full product?
Both. We can take on one discipline or deliver the full product: electronics, firmware, mechanical design and production support.
Can you redesign a product for component shortages or cost reduction?
Yes. We review the BOM, select alternates and redesign what is needed to reduce cost or availability risk.
What do I need to send to get a quote?
A short description of the product, expected functions, target volumes, timeline and any existing prototype or documents. We also like to have a quick meeting to fully understand what you want: it helps us provide the best service possible.
Which wireless technologies do you work with?
BLE, Wi-Fi, LoRa, GNSS and cellular IoT (LTE-M/NB-IoT).
Who works at Opotek?
Opotek is consulting engineer Oriol Pascual. He leads and engineers every project, and works with specialist partners (mechanical design, machining, certification labs) when a project needs them.
Can you produce small batches?
Yes, for both the electronics and the mechanical parts. We coordinate PCBA, programming and functional testing, and we also manufacture the mechanical side: FDM and resin 3D printing are available in-house, and we work with trusted partners for machined parts and SLS or MJF printed parts. Contact us with your expected quantities.
Which 3D printing process should I use for my enclosure?
FDM suits most prototype enclosures and jigs; resin printing suits fine detail; SLS or MJF via partners suits functional end-use parts. The right choice depends on quantity and requirements.
